ILCA is looking for a few good communicators.

During the ILCA Convention in Pittsburgh Sept. 10-12, delegates will elect members to the organization's Executive Council, which sets the vision, policy and direction of ILCA. Offices up for election are the President, 15 Vice Presidents, and a Secretary-Treasurer (or a Secretary and a Treasurer if the Convention passes a proposed Constitutional Amendment to split the office). Serving in these offices includes significant work, but is very rewarding, a great way to deepen connections with other labor communicators, and even fun sometimes. Women and people of color are particularly encouraged to apply. Members of the Executive Council are expected to attend three meetings a year (in various cities across the country) and to spend other volunteer time on the organization’s work. This includes:

  • Recruiting new members and contacting those who have dropped membership.
  • Assisting with and contributing to providing membership services, including training, the annual Media Awards, fund-raising, articles forthe website or The Reporter, etc.
  • Being an active member of ILCA committees to accomplish organizational
    work.
  • Encouraging, promoting, and being an advocate for labor communications
    and labor communicators.
  • A more complete list of Executive Council duties (by office),
eligibility requirements, and filing procedures can be found here at the
